SOUTH BEND Russell R. Hesser, 73, of 730 30th St., died at 1:45 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Hesser was a tool and die maker. He retired in 1978, from Bendix Corp. after 39 years of employment. He was born Oct. 7, 1915, in Ohio and had lived in South Bend most of his life, coming from Ohio.
On March 8, 1936, in South Bend, he married Mary Etta Baker, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Joan Forslund of Mishawaka, Mary Lou Fleishaker of Ramsey, N.J., and Cheryl Sniadecki of Walkerton; a son, Richard E. of Mishawaka; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was a member of Independent Order of Vikings, Mishawaka; St. Joseph County Restoration Club; Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 435; and Bendix Local 9 of the United Auto Workers union.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association.
