Ruth Louise (Harper) Barker

July 23, 1916 - March 10, 1991

NILES - Ruth L. Barker, 74, of 911 S. Third St., died at 8:39 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, after an illness. Mrs. Barker was a retired coordinator of the Brandywine High School hot lunch program.

She was born July 23, 1916, in South Bend, and moved to Niles in 1945 from South Bend.

On May 24, 1941, in South Bend, she married Charles C. Barker. He died Nov. 16, 1985.

Surviving are two daughters, Judie Vinnedge of Niles and Sharon Brooks of Stockbridge, Ga.; a son, Douglas of Irmo, S.C.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Vera Korpal of Mishawaka; and a brother, Eugene Harper of LaPorte.

She a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pifer-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
