Helen Wharton, 66, of 1333 N. Adams, died at 6:15 a.m., Friday, in St. Joseph's Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Cross Catholic Church. Rev. Edward O'Connor of the University of Notre Dame will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Zahoran Funeral Home.
She was a retired medical secretary. Born Nov. 21, 1915, in South Bend, she was a lifelong area resident.
On Aug. 24, 1935, as Helen Gyenge, she married Floyd Wharton. He survives with two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Tevenan of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mrs. Kathy Ross of Durango, Colo.; two sons, Robert of Fullerton, Calif., and Thomas of St. Charles. Mo.: 13 grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Pinterics and Mrs. Ann Paul, both of South Bend, and Mrs. Ida Leksau of Doylestown, Ohio.
She was a charter member of the Altar and Rosary Society church and was a member of the Log Chapel Prayer Group of Notre Dame.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Association, the church, or the Notre Dame Log Chapel Prayer Group.
