Marie Barbara (Fuzy) Stafford

Marie B. Stafford, 86, of Brick Road in South Bend, Ind., passed away at 5:10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, in her residence. She was born on Nov. 23, 1914, to the late Joseph and Theresa (Lockmondy) Fuzy in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. She was also preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers. Mrs. Stafford was a homemaker and a registered nurse. She had served as a private duty nurse and also worked for the Children's Dispensary.

On Dec. 7, 1940, she married Henry R. Stafford in South Bend. He survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Sue (Ron) Heick of South Bend, formerly of St. Louis, Mo.; a son, Ray (Becky) Stafford of South Bend; four grandchildren, Tiffany Heick of Orlando, Fla., Jennifer Heick of St. Louis, Amy Stafford of South Bend and Casey Stafford of South Bend; and by a sister, Betty Beamer of Ann Arbor, Mich.

Mrs. Stafford was a member of St. James Episcopal Cathedral in South Bend, was a lifetime member of the Indiana Parent Teachers Association, a former volunteer for the German Township 4-H Club, and was a former instructor for the American Red Cross. She graduated from Central High School in 1934, and graduated from the Epworth School of Nursing in 1937.
