Norma Laverne (Freeland) Hafer

Norma Laverne Hafer, 85, of Butternut Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 3:35 p.m.on Sunday, Feb.9, in Saint Joseph Care West.
She was born on April 18, 1917, in Wakeman, Ohio, to Elza Jay and Elsie Ellen (Freeland), who preceded her in death. Her first husband, Clem Laskowski, passed away during World War II. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Dean Freeland, and by a sister, Verna Blosser.
In December 1952 in Angola, Ind., she married Charles W. Hafer. Norma is survived by her husband, Charles; two sons, Dennis Laskowski of South Bend and Barry (Joy) Hafer of Woodstock, Ill.; a stepson, Tom Hafer of Osceola, Ind.; a daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Horvath of South Bend; a stepdaughter, Sharlene (Kenneth) Freels of Bremen, Ind.; and by nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She retired in 1980 after working for 32 years at Bendix.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.today, Feb.11, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S.Mayflower Road.Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday, Feb.12, in the funeral home. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St.Joseph County and to the Alzheimer Association
