Francis Edward Fergus

Francis E. Fergus, 65, of 930 Riverside, died Wednesday at home after an illness.
He was a real estate broker for the past five years. He had previously worked as regional sales manager for the Studebaker Corp. and sales manager of the P&H Co., Milwaukee, Wis. He had also been an officer with the Lincoln National Bank of Chicago and the First National Bank of Chicago.
He was born on July 17, 1915, in South Bend, and had lived here most of his life.
On July 14, 1943, in Boston, he married Vivian Schellinger, who died on May 9, 1965.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Kate Freeman of Galena, Ill., and a brother, Paul A. of South Bend.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Rev. Albin Hosinski, C.S.C., will officiate.: Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Des Plaines, Ill., a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree, Evanston, Ill., and a member of the Moose Lodge of South Bend. He had served in the Navy during World War II, and was a recipient of three Combat Stars. In 1940 he was graduated from the University of Notre Dame. He recently had been elected treasurer of the Park Avenue Neighborhood Association.
