Kenneth Irvin DeView, 67, of Portland, Ore., formerly of South Bend and Berrien Springs, died May 23 during heart by-pass surgery. Services and burial were Friday in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

Born on June 24, 1915, in New Castle, Ind., he lived in South Bend for many years. He was a graduate of Central High School and the South Bend College of Commerce, and was a former employee of Clark Equipment Co.

A World War II Army veteran, he received the Croix de Guerre and Purple Heart honors.

On Nov. 20, 1942, in Berrien Springs, he married Betty Shearer. She survives with three sons, Greg, Rex and Randy, all of Portland; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Irene Troy of Oceanside, Calif.; a brother, Everett of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; and his mother, Mrs. Lillian DeView of Oceanside.

He was a former member of the Elks Lodge and Epworth United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
