Edward L. Delahanty Jr.
Edward L. Delahanty Jr., 61, of 805 E. Miner, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 1978, in St. Joseph's Hospital after an extended illness. He was a retired accountant for the former Studebaker Corp. Born on Aug. 21, 1916, in Detroit, he lived in this area for 50 years.
On April 19, 1941, in South Bend, he married the former Rosemary DeVreese, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Petrasovits and Maureen, both of South Bend; three sons, Edward L. III of Wayzata, Minn., and Michael and Patrick, both of Mishawaka; six grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Bertha P. Bessinger of South Bend; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Shippam of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; Mrs. Marie Thompson of Lakewood, Calif., and Mrs. Evelyn Beeler of Bristol, and two brothers, James of South Bend and Thomas of Granger.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Wendell, C.S.C., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call until 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the McGann Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
