William O. Davies III

Wednesday in William O. Davies III, 63, of 1552 Wildflower Way, died at 7:25 Wednesday in Fort Meyers Beach, Fla., after an unexpected illness. He was the owner of the former Davies Laundry-Paris Cleaners in South Bend.
He was born on March 14, 1916, in South Bend, and had lived here all his life.
On June 7, 1941, in South Bend, he married Joan Lee Ellis, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Miss Mary C. Davies of South Bend, and three sons, William L. of Fort Wayne, John E. and James M., both of South Bend.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Notre Dame. Rev. Joseph Fey, pastor of Christ the King Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call until 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the McGann Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be observed at 7:30.
He graduated from Wabash University in 1939, where he was affiliated with Phi Gamma Delta National Social Fraternity. He was a member of the University Club of Notre Dame and a former member of the Indiana and the South Bend country clubs. He was also a member of the Stymie Golf Club.
He served in Japan during World War II as a captain in the army. He was a longtime member of the Republican Party.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Child Society or the St. Joseph County Unit of the American Heart Association.
