John Wendell Carlson, 74, of 8806 Marksfield Road, died Tuesday at Humana Hospital-Suburban. He was a native of Escanaba, Mich., a retired salesman for Union Underwear Corp., an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Elks Club of Memphis, Tenn.

Survivors: his wife, the former Doris Pierce; a daughter, Martha Rushton of New Orleans; a sister, Corinne Larson of Cromwell, Conn.; and two grandchildren.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday, Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford. Burial: Bedford 100F Cemetery. Visitation: after noon Friday
