Born on Nov. 3, 1916, in Lapaz, Ind., he was the son of Charles and Ruth (Birk) Carbiener.
During his earthly life, Mr. Carbiener was married to Vera Stump on July 2, 1939, and raised three daughters: Lorraine Lower of Brandon, Fla., Brenda Zumbrun of South Bend, and Pam Cox of Granger, Ind. They all survive him along with a sister, June Stump of North Liberty, Ind., and three brothers, Homer Carbiener of Phoenix, Ariz., Keith Carbiener of South Bend, and Charles Carbiener of Fort Myers, Fla. Mr. Carbiener was preceded in death by a brother, Eldon, and by a daughter, Janet.
After farming for 14 years, Mr. Carbiener was construction superintendent for Carbiener Construction. Upon retirement, he continued to work for nine years with RBR, Inc. In recent years, he spent winters in Valrico, Fla., with his wife, and working for his son-in-law's construction and remodeling business. His summers were spent following his daughters' gospel music group, Voices of Praise, and working with his sister-in-law at Primrose Distributing. Friends remember Blaine Carbiener as a loving, caring person who was a joy to all who knew him.
His most prized possessions were his hope of eternal life based on a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and his family and friends. His most valuable personal asset was his encouraging smile, especially in difficult situations.
His family will greet friends and remember Blaine at the Welsheimer Funeral Home on William Street from 3 to 7 p.m. today, and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 61770 Miami Road.
