Robert George Butzbach Sr

Robert G. Butzbach Sr., 63, of Woodstown, died Monday at home. He was born in South Bend, Ind., and formerly lived in Harrison Township for 34 years.

Mr. Butzbach, who lived in Woodstown for the past four years, was an engineer at the DuPont Chambers Works in Deepwater, where he worked for 37 years before retiring in 1978. He was a member of Eureka Lodge 23, F&AM, of Wilmington, Del., and of the Delaware Consistory; a past member of the Harrison Township Planning Board and past president of the Harrison Township Board of Education; a member of the Clearview Regional High School Board Education; past president of the Gloucester County Association for Retarded Citizens, and president of the Salem County Association for Retarded Citizens. He was a member of the Vineland State School Board of Trustees and past president of the Vineland State School Parents Association; past president of the Woodstown Fellowship Club; a member of the board directors of the Salem County United Fund and past chairman of the Salem County United Fund Campaign. He was a past chairman of the board trustees of the Pitman United Methodist Church, and a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Woodstown.

Surviving are his wife LaVerne; a son, Robert G. Jr. of Woodstown; two daughters, Sharon L. Mitchell of Easton, Pa., and Gale A. at home; two sisters, Jeanette E. Palmer of Pinehurst, N.C., and Betty Gardner of Woodstown; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Means Funeral Home, 63 N. Main St., Mullica Hill, where friends may call at noon. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, Farnhurst, Del.
