SOUTH BEND — Eddie Borowiak, 92, passed away Tuesday, Aug.21, at 10:15 a.m. in Hamilton Grove Communities, New Carlisle, IN. Eddie was born on August 18, 1915, in Chicago, IL, to the late Frank and Anna (Plonski) Borowiak. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard.
On September 28, 1935, he married Lucille V. Gadacz, who survives along with their children, Barbara (Mike) Sacchini of South Bend and Raymond Borowiak of Hiawassee, GA; four grandchildren, Debbie (Raymond Kane) Courtney, Dan (Dea) Sacchini, Judy Ritschard and Cindy; seven great-grandchildren, Christian, Alexis, Thomas, John Michael (Joy), Jay, Amy and Desiree; two great-great-grandchildren, John Thomas, Bane, and Kylie; and a sister, Helen (Tom) Munn of Miami, FL;and many nieces, nephews and several cousins.
Eddie was a member of the Chain O’Lakes Conservation Club. He was active in the AFL-CIO Local 9. He loved fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. A remembrance of Eddie’s life will begin at 5:30 p.m.
