James E. Beaudway

James E. Beaudway, 81, of Leigh Avenue, Diamond Lake, Cassopolis, MI., and formerly of Sylvan Glen Drive South Bend died Thursday evening August 13, 1998 at his home on Diamond Lake after a brief illness. Mr. Beaudway was born September 19, 1916 in South Bend to the Late Edward J. & Crystal (Schinke) Beaudway.
On September 26, 1937 in Buchanan, MI. he married the former Margaret Jane "Meg" Belvel who preceded him in death on January 28, 1997. Also preceding him is his son, Michael J. Beaudway.
Mr. Beaudway was chairman of the Board of Industrial Metal Fab, Inc. and owner of the Beaudway Hardware Stores in the South Bend.
He is survived by two sons, Mark E. (Cynthia) Beaudway of Granger, IN. and Monte C. (Nancy) Beaudway of Diamond Lake, Cassopolis, MI; six grandchildren, Miles M; Jack M; Matt M; Nicholas V; Kyle M; and Alissa S. Beaudway. Also surviving is his sister, Maxine Asbury of Newport, IN.
Mr. Beaudway in 1960 was past president of the South Bend Chamber of Commerce, board member of the South Bend Park Department, from 1955 to 1963 on the board of directors of Indiana Manufactures Assoc; Chairman of the Goodwill Board, Charter Member of Notre Dame Quarterback Club, member of the Elks Club, member of Morris Park Country Club, board member of the South Bend Y.M.C.A; in 1987 was the Small Businessman of the Year for both South Bend and Mishawaka, a graduate of Central High School, class of 1934 and attended Notre Dame University. He was a Navy Veteran from World War II being discharged in 1946.
Friends may call Tuesday, August 18, 1998 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. in the Hickey Funeral Homes, 17131 Cleveland Road South Bend, IN. Memorial Contributions may be made on behalf of Mr. Beaudway to the South Bend Y.M.C.A; Hospice of Cass County or to the American Cancer Society
