Fred J. Sumption, 71, of 901 E. Camino Real, Boca Raton, Fla., died at 7:40 p.m. Thursday in Boca Raton Community Hospital.
Born Dec. 21, 1912, in South Bend, he lived here until moving to Rock Island, Ill., where he established Sumption Motors. Mr. Sumption also was in business in Moline, Ill., before retiring to Boca Raton.
He is survived by his wife Mable, along with a daughter, Mary Gilmore of Coal Valley, Ill.; a brother, Robert of Plymouth, Mich.; four grandchildren; and a niece, Evelyn Anthony, also of Plymouth.
Private services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Boca Raton Mausoleum. R. Jay Kraeer Funeral Home of Boca Raton is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Florida.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club of Boca Rato1, St. Joseph Masonic Lodge 45 F&AM of South Bend, Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, Kabba Shrine Temple of Davenport, Iowa, and a charter member and Past Worthy Patron of the Rose Croix O.E.S Chapter 575, South Bend.
