Marjorie P. (Karns) Flessing

Marjorie P. (Karns) Flessing, 88, of Lakeview Manor, Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Sunnymede Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died at 7:24 p.m. on Sunday, March 14, in Lakeview Manor. She was born on Dec. 13, 1910, in Beaver Dam, Ind., to Elva (Shoemaker) and Elza Karns, both of whom preceded her in death. She had lived in the South Bend area most of her life, moving to Indianapolis in 1992.
On Sept. 8, 1935, in South Bend, as Marjorie P. Karns, she married Christian G. Flessing, who preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1991. Mrs. Flessing was also preceded in death by a sister, Willa Eckhardt, who died in August 1994.
Mrs. Flessing is survived by a daughter, Linda Underwood of Avon, Ind.; and by a grandson, Christian Nicely of Plainfield, Ind.
Mrs. Flessing was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church, South Bend, and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 2.
Services for Mrs. Flessing will be at 1 p.m. today at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South Bend. Rev. William Wassner of the First Christian Church, South Bend, will conduct the services. Friends may call from 11 to 1 p.m. today in the funeral home. Entombment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
