ST. GEORGE, Utah - Thomas Howard Kaetzer, 89, Lt. Col., U.S. Army retired, died peacefully in his sleep in St. George on Saturday, March 30, 2002.

Mr. Kaetzer was born on April 14, 1912 in Gary, Ind., a son of the late Louis Adolph and Muriel Edith Freeman Kaetzer.

He attended the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind., Baylor University, Waco, Texas and the University of the Pacific, Stockton, Calif. He had 14 years in business administration. He volunteered in 1942 and rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army. He retired from the military in 1963 after serving 20 years.

He was public relations officer for the Bank of Stockton, raised Arabian horses for 15 years and was a horse show manager for five seasons. He and his wife retired to the Turk and Caicos Islands, British West Indies where he was active in the Kiwanis Club.

After 15 years, they returned to the U.S. and 1995 moved to St. George, Utah. He was a former resident of Florence. Mr.

Kaetzer was raised in and followed the Baptist faith and always lived by the Golden Rule. He was a Mason, Shriner, a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Jocelyn; a son, Thomas Wylie Kaetzer; a daughter, Jodell Eileen Kaetzer; and three granddaughters, Leena Marie Graves, Kathrine Diane Kaetzer Sharp and Leah Rachelle Kaetzer Woolington
