Carl E. Wray

Carl E. Wray, 68, of 1607 Riverside, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was employed with the Gafill Oil Co. for 43 years. He was born on Dec. 30, 1912, in Terre Haute, and lived in South Bend since 1929 after coming from Terre Haute.
On Aug. 16, 1938, in Mishawaka, he married Alice H. McIntee. She survives with two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Portolese of Mishawaka and Mrs. Stephen Lemme of Granger; two sons, C. Edward Wray and Gerald R. Wray, both of South Bend; 13 grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert Borden of South Bend and Mrs. King Detzler of Oswego, Ill.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. William McAuliffe, C.S.C., officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson.
He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus-Fourth Degree Father Nieuland Assembly and the Holy Cross Association. He was a graduate of Central High School, where he was captain of the wrestling team.
