Virginia (White) Smith

SOUTH BEND Virginia W. Smith, 78, of 1202 Hillcrest Road, died at 12:55 a.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Smith retired from Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. as a bookkeeper.

She was born Oct. 16, 1913, in Flint, Mich., and lived in South Bend most of her life.

On July 31, 1948, in South Bend, she married Donald Mont Smith. He survives with a son, Barry M. of Mishawaka; two grandsons; and a half-brother, Jack P. White of Union.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and past president of Unique Antiquers Club. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services on Friday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
