Madelyn Frances (Smith) Macdonald

Madelyn S. Macdonald, 88, of Ligonier, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, in Latrobe Area Hospital.

She was born March 4, 1914, in South Bend, Ind., the daughter of the late C. Mont and Genevieve Geltz Smith. She attended Radcliffe College and Northwestern University and had been a resident of the Ligonier Valley for 65 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.K. ''Jack' Macdonald; a son, Charles Scott Macdonald; and a brother, Donald Smith.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra M. Venning; and three grandchildren, Rachel Venning, Charles Clinton and Christopher Scott Macdonald.

There will be no visitation. Private burial in St. Michael's Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial donations to the Ligonier Valley Library or Ligonier Historical Society.
