June F. (Rathfon) Perkins

June 3, 1914 - Aug. 30, 2002

June Frances Perkins, 88, who resided at Hubbard Hills of Elkhart, Ind., and formerly of Oak Springs Road, Eagle Lake, Edwardsburg, Mich., passed away at 4:03 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, while a patient in Elkhart General Hospital. Her death was due to cancer.

June was born June 3, 1914, in Niles, Mich., the daughter of the late James Elmer and Tressie Blanche (Tuckey) Rathfon. June was married Dec. 6, 1940, in South Bend, to Earl Francis Perkins, who passed away Dec. 15, 2000.

She graduated from Central High School of South Bend, Ind. She had been employed by Indiana Bell Telephone as an operator, and formerly worked as PBX operator for I&M of South Bend. She and her husband moved to Edwardsburg in 1940.

She is survived by a daughter, Alana Arseneau of Edwardsburg; three grandchildren, Danielle, Eric and Todd Arseneau; seven great grandchildren, Amber Tackett, Kenton Birdsall, Tyler, Ashton, Brandon and Kristipher Arseneau, and Angela Dickinson. There are five great-great-grandchildren, Gage, Kyle, Raven, Kalee and Kyah. Also one sister, Clara McMillan of Beaver: Creek, Ohio.

There is one sister deceased, Mary and three brothers, Harry, James and Edgar Rathfon, Services will be Wednesday at: 2 p.m. (Mich. time) Sept. 4 in Hope United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jeff Reese, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery of South Bend. Friends are being received in the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg, on Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m., and in the church for one hour before services Wednesday. She was a member of the church, and the choir director for the former Adamsville United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the church
