Marie E. (Nowak) Hoffer

Services for Marie E. Hoffer, 74, of 3502 Woldhaven Drive, who died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Matthew Cathedral. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with military services conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1167. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, where the parish rosary will be said at 4 p.m.

Mrs. Hoffer was a retired Army nurse, had retired from Children's Dispensary and was a former pediatric supervisor at St. Joseph's Medical Center.

She was born July 14, 1913, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

On Jan. 11, 1956, in South Bend, as Marie E. Nowak, she married Anton F. Hoffer. He died in 1980.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Helen Nowak and Joyce Nowak, both of South Bend; a niece; and two nephews.

She was a graduate of St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing, Chicago; was a member of Saint Mary's College Alumni; the Rosary Society of the church; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1167
