Ann Evelyn Borowski, 91, Tanglewood Trace, Mishawa-ka, Indiana, formerly of St. Paul's Retirement Center in South Bend and Parian Avenue in South Bend, died at 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2005, in her residence. Evelyn was born on Friday, June 13, 1913, in South Bend, Indiana, to Eveline M. (Archambeault) and August H. McCauslin. Evelyn attended Saint Joseph Grade School in South Bend and was graduat-ed from South Bend Central High School in 1931.

On May 30, 1939, Evelyn married Charles C. "Chuck" Borowski in Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in South Bend. Mr. Borowski died on April 24, 1979.

Surviving are her six children, Richard C. (Gene) of Alexander City, AL, Paul M. (Carol) of South Bend, Carol A. Green of Hendersonville, NC, Anne M. (Michael) Casini of Granger, Indiana, Kevin J. (Michele) of Fort Mitchell, KY, and Maureen A. Breed of Tampa, FL. Evelyn was the proud and happy grandmother to 16 grandchildren, Johnathon Urschel of Alexander City, AL, Linda (Ricky) Locklar of Montgomery, AL, Peggy Sue (Jonathan) Greenlaw of Roseville, CA, Kathleen M. Borowski of Kirkland, WA, Michael C. (Ellen Taylor) of South Bend and Susanne C. (Dolan) Klein of Savoy, IL, Sheila Barker (Alessio) Asonitis of Florence, Italy, James BeBo Barker of Los Angeles, Lori M. Casini of Charlotte, NC, Derek M. Casini of Granger, Jonathon C. Borowski of Fort Mitchell, KY, Shannon M. Borowski of Fort Mitchell, KY, Ryan A. Borowski of Fort Mitchell, KY, and Maxwell K. Breed of Tampa, Fla., and Samuel M. Breed of Tampa, FL. Evelyn was preceded in her death by one grandson, Travis C. Casini. Evelyn also has eight great-grandchildren who survive, Ryan and Ian Locklar, Nathan and Sarah Greenlaw, Casimir T. and Mia E. Borowski, and Parker C. and Samantha L. Klein. Mom was excited just last Saturday when Susanne Klein told her she would be a great-grandmother once again in October. One brother, Charles J. McCauslin of Mishawaka, also survives.

She had three brothers, George E., John W. and Archie B. McCauslin, who preceded her death. One sister-in-law, Julia Borowski of South Bend, survives. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Cindy McCauslin (John) Verduin, who was assisting her family with care.

Evelyn was a legal secretary in law firms in South Bend prior to her taking time off to raise her family. She returned to the work force as executive secretary in the St. Joseph County Area Plan Commission, secretary to the County Engineer, secretary at the Indiana Toll Road, and executive legal secretary for the U.S. Naval R.O.T.C. at the University of Notre Dame from where she retired at the young age of 72. After her retirement, she became a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph's and Memorial Hospitals, which she continued until 2003. Evelyn was an active member of Christ The King Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Eagles Auxiliary, Harvest House, St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary, past president of the Wedgwood Park Garden Club, University Club of the University of Notre Dame, Forever Learning Institute, and the Snite Museum at the University of Notre Dame.

The family requests that NO flowers be sent in her memory. Because of Evelyn's deep concerns for life and her family, she asked that donations be made to Redwood Rehabilitation Center, 71 Orphanage Road, Fort Mitchell, KY 41017, in the name of her grandson, Jonathon; or to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Joseph County, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437. Hospice had provided her and her family support during her illness.

Visitation with Evelyn's family will be in Christ the King Catholic Church, which is located at SR 933 and Darden Road in South Bend, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 19. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Thomas J. Jones, C.S.C., the pastor, will officiate along with Reverend Henry Byekwaso, the St. Joseph Hospital chaplain. Burial will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame, after Mass. Arrangements are being handled by the McGann Funeral Home, University Area Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road, South Bend, IN.
