Morris C. Hertel, 85, of Three M Rivers, Mich., Bradenton and Holmes Beach, died March 3, 1998, in Holmes Beach. Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenview Community Church, Glenview, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association, 2201 Cantu Court, Suite 119, Sarasota, Fla. 34232. Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, Holmes Beach Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Born in South Bend, Ind., Mr. Hertel came to Manatee County from Three Rivers each winter since 1963.

He was a self-employed architect. He attended First Presbyterian Church, Three Rivers. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and a member of Kiwanis, Shrine, American Institute of Architects, Glenview Chamber of Commerce, Navy League, Audubon Society and Dale Carnegie Alumni Association.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; three daughters, Susan Pedrick of Erie, Colo., Pamela Mers of Glenview and Joan Fisher of Mishawaka, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.
