Madelyn E. (Hatfield) King

SOUTH BEND Madelyn E. King. 81, of Rue Rabelais, died at 3:20 Sunday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mrs. King retired in 1976 from the University of Notre Dame as secretary in the mathematics department after six years of service.

She was born Sept. 5, 1912. in LaPorte and lived in South Bend most of her life. coming from LaPorte.

On Aug. 28. 1946, in South Bend, as Madelyn Hatfield, she married George M. King Sr. He survives with two sons, Timothy E. of Bristol and George M. Jr. of South Bend; five grandchildren; a sister. Sarah Pfiefer of Battle Creek, Mich.; and a brother, Donald Hatfield of South Bend.

She was a charter member of Service Guild and Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of South Bend Country Club and Indiana Club.

Services will be at noon Tuesday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and two hours before services Tuesday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Home Care Visiting Nurses Association
