RUTH (FISHMAN) AICHELE

RUTH (FISHMAN) AICHELE, 93, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at Coventry Meadows LLC, Fort Wayne. She was born in South Bend and was a home maker.

She graduated South Bend Central  High School in 1931; was a member of Congregation Achduth Vesholom, Fort Wayne; and was past president of B'nai B'rith. She enjoyed cooking, needlepoint and playing bridge.

Survivors include her stepson, Fredric (Sally) Aichele of Fort Wayne; granddaughter, Jennifer (James) Vana, of Edmonds, Wash.; grandsons, F. Jon (Keri) Aichele Jr. of St. Augustine, Fla. and Eric T. Aichele of Chicago, Ill.; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Leah Fishman; husband, John T. Aichele on March 22, 2003; stepson, William H. Aichele on Jan. 28, 2003; three brothers; and four sisters.

Service is 2 p.m. Wednesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road. Rabbi Marla Joy Subeck Spanjer and Rabbi Jonathon Katz officiating. Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials to Community Harvest Food Bank, Fort Wayne or Congregation Achduth Vesholom .
