Henry Feferman

Henry Feferman, 63, president of Feferman Motor Sales, died at 7 a.m. today in his home at 2741 York Road. He was ill for two years. Deputy County Coroner James McMeel said death apparently was the result of a heart attack. Feferman was born on April 21, 1914, in South Bend.

He was a prominent businessman here for many years. He was associated with Feferman Motor Sales, founded by his father, since 1936. He became president of the firm in 1956. The firm will close on Tuesday in his memory.

In 1961 he married Frances Vignali. She survives with two daughters, Miss Anne Mary at home and Mrs. Shelly Roenfeldt, and two sons, Bennett at home, and Melvin all of South Bend; three grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Milton Ries and Mrs. Gustave Dalberg, both of South Bend.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Temple Beth-El, of which he was the president. Rabbi Elliott Rosenstock of Temple Beth-El and Rabbi Jacob S. Bergman of the Congregation Sons of Isreael, will officiate. Burial will be in the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home. There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Temple Beth-El Memorial Fund.

Feferman was a member of the Summit Club; the City Club Organization; the South Bend Elks; the South Bend Kiwanis Club; the Jewish Community Council, and the South Bend Art Association. He was the past chairman of the United Fund; a recipient of the Herman Goodwin Award; the past president of the Indiana Automotive Dealers Association; the past president of the South Bend Automotive Dealers Association; the past president of the National Committee for Israel Bonds, and recipient of the brotherhood award of the National Conference of Christians and Jews. He also served on the corporate board of the South Bend Mishawaka Area Chamber of Commerce and served six years on the board of directors of REAL Services, including two terms as president.
