Marjorie L. (Darr) Gramza
July 14, 1913 - Nov. 29, 2005
Marjorie Louise Gramza, 92, formerly of Ostemo Place, South Bend, died following an illness at 9:02 a.m. Tuesday, November 29th, in Regency Place of South Bend. Mrs. Gramza was born July 14, 1913, in South Bend, to the late Howard and Ethelda (Hintz) Darr, and was a lifetime area resident.
On February 19, 1939, in South Bend, as Marjorie L. Darr, she married Marion Gramza, who preceded her in death December 21, 1977.
She is survived by three daughters, Suzanne Fisher of Fontana, Calif., and Diane Gram and Barbara Gramza, both of South Bend; two sons, Thomas (Janet) Gramza of Punta Gorda, Fla., and David (Linda) Gramza of South Bend; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Gramza, Christopher (Jean) Gramza, Allison (Joseph) Morris, Troy Gramza, Joel (Sami) Schlundt and Jon Schlundt; and by 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Gramza worked at the Bike-Web Manufacturing Co. during the Depression, and retired from the former Robertson's Department Store after 17 years as a salesperson in the toy department. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she participated in the prayer chain, women's circle, and quilters group. She was a state life member of the P.T.A., serving at Muessel School and Central High School. She served many years with the Camp Fire Girls as a leader and was a staff member of Camp Wakinda. She volunteered for Real Services nutrition sites and was a member of Twin City Baptist Jolly 60s, Salvation Army over 50s, local AARP and Chippewa Seniors.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 2nd, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., with Rev. Gregory Fiechtner of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation will take place at Michiana Crematory, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Building Fund, 51409 Laurel Road, South Bend, IN 46628
