Charles Casimer Borowski

Charles C. Borowski, 66, of 50747 Parian, was dead on arrival at 6:58 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack at home.
He retired in 1962 as a captain with the South Bend Police Department where he served 22 years. He was assistant chief adult probation officer for St. Joseph County for 17 years. Borowski was born on Feb. 23, 1913, in South Bend.
On May 30, 1939, he married Ann Evelyn McCauslin. She survives with three daughters, Mrs. Carol Barker of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Anne Casini of Granger, and Mrs. Maureen Breed of Bloomington, Ind.; three sons, Richard C. of Montgomery, Ala., Paul M. of South Bend, and Kevin J., of Covington, Ky.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Michael McGowan and Mrs. Theodore Klein, and a brother, Chester, all of South Bend.
Borowski was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, class of 1938 and was captain of the baseball team.
Borowski was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society; the Notre Dame National Monogram Club; the Notre Dame Club of St. Joseph Valley, and the Bendix Brakes Softball. Team. He also was a member of the American Bowling Congress; the Fraternal Order of Police, No. 36; the Achievement Forum; the South Bend Eagles Lodge No. 435, and the Indiana Correctional Association. He was a retired member of the St. Joseph Valley Officials Association.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Christ the King Catholic Church. Rev. Martin Rini, C.S.C., associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today in the Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
