John Bednar

John and Gertrude (Summers) Bednar, (who died in March), together raised two loving daughters, Colleen (Lawrence R.) Hyslop, of East Lansing, Anne Bednar of Ann Arbor and two granddaughters, Colleen Jara and Emily Kathleen Bednar. J
ohn was the son of Anton and Anna (Kouril) Bednar. Born on December 10, 1913, he grew up in South Bend, graduated from Central High School in 1931, attended the South Bend College of Commerce and was a World War II Air Force veteran. He then worked for Bendix Corp. in South Bend for more than 30 years.
They moved to Michigan in 1991 where he passed away on September 7, 1999.
Services Friday, September 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in South Bend. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. The family is being served by Hickey Funeral Home, South Bend.
Contributions in memory of Mr. Bednar to St. Thomas Aquinas, Salvation Army, or Habitat for Humanity.

John Bednar Dec. 10, 1913 - Sept. 7, 1999 SOUTH BEND John - Bednar, 85, of East Lansing, Mich., formerly of Woodcliff Drive, died Tuesday in Burcham Hills Retirement Community, East Lansing. Survivors include two daughters, Colleen Hyslop of East Lansing and Anne Bednar of Ann Arbor.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, where friends may call one hour before services. Hickey Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
