Harriet G. Graf, 60. of 18907 Cleveland Road. was found dead at about 1:30 a.m. today in the backseat of an automobile running in her closed garage. Dr. Louis Grwinski, St. Joseph County deputy coroner ruled her death suicide be carbon monoxide poisoning, adding that she had been very despondent and had left a suicide note. He estimated she had been dead between six and eight hours before her body was discovered by her husband and son.
She was retired in 1975 from the O'Brien Paint Co., where she had worked for five years as assistant sales manager. Born on Dec. 9. 1919. in Chicago, she had lived in South Bend most of her life after coming from Grand Rapids, Mich.
On Feb. 3. 1945, in Chicago, she married Paul F. Graf, who survives, along with two sons, John R., at home, and Paul Michael, of Wayne, Mich.: four sisters, Mrs. Jane Miller. Mrs. Rose Mary Kozak, Mrs. Louise Molnar and Mrs. Dolores Zobrosky, all of South Bend, and a brother. Thomas Wozniak, of Mishawaka.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday In the Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church
