MISHAWAKA - L. Elizabeth "Betty" Kasa, 92, residing in Mishawaka, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2010, in her home. She was born June 8, 1918, in South Bend, IN, a daughter of Ralph and Irene (Werner) Wampler, and graduated from Central High School.

During WW II, Betty was employed at Plant 8 at the Studebaker Corp., then worked as an inspector at the Bendix Corp., and during the 1960s worked in the cafeteria at Studebaker Elementary School. She retired in 1973 from Associates Investment Company. On July 20, 1946, as Betty Wampler, she was united in marriage to Dan Williams.

Then on November 2, 1973, in South Bend, she married Carl S. Kasa. She is survived by her loving husband, Carl of nearly 37 years; her daughter, Janice (Joe) Jarboe of Warsaw, IN; her son, Kevin (Linda) Williams of Indianapolis, a stepdaughter, Marilynn Manning of Reedley, CA; and a stepson, Richard (Laurie) Kasa of Reno, NV. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Melissa (Bob) Carrico, Brian (Cheryl) Pemberton, Geoff (Christine) Pemberton, Rachel (Rich) Brown, Seth Williams, Jack Williams, Clay (Jill) Manning, Kevin Manning, Rachel (Anthony) Kasa-daRosa, Naomi Kasa and Matthew Kasa; and three great-grandchildren, Chad (Sara Dean) Carrico, Ashley Carrico and Bennett Brown. A sister, Lois Jane Chapman of Murietta, CA, survives her as well.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph P. Wampler.

Betty was a member of Southlawn United Methodist Church, Senior Fun Club Bowling League, Golden Gang League, Central Alumni Association, Mary Ann Club and Broadway E.U.B. Circle.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Center for Hospice team, Dr. King, and her caregivers, Amanda and Julie, for making her final days so comfortable, and for the care you have shown to us.

Services celebrating the life of Betty Kasa will be at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 10th, at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Ron Dixon and Rev. Don Carpenter will officiate. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy on behalf of Betty may be offered to The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
