Gwen Charlotte (Sollitt) Gagnon

Gwen Sollitt Gagnon, 63, of 1522 L. Washington, died at 1:15 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born on July 7, 1919, in Chicago and lived in South Bend for 57 years.
On Sept. 7, 1946, she married Richard I. Gagnon in South Bend. He survives with two daughters, Mrs. Sharon G. Schatz of Austin, Tex., and Gwen E. Gagnon of Columbus, Ohio; a son, Rick S. Gagnon of South Bend; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Gloria Carroll of Glenview, Ill.; and a brother, Ralph B. Sollitt of South Bend.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in the First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Philip J. Sorensen, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson.
She attended Bradford College, Bradford, Mass. and Indiana University, Bloomington. She was a graduate of the Chicago Fine Arts School, Chicago. She was a past board member and past president of the St. Joseph Valley Antiquarian Society and a board member of the Children's Dispensary.
She was a member of the Northern Indiana Historical Society; the Hoosier Art Association; the South Bend Junior League; and the Christ Child Society. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Dispensary and Hospital Association or to any charity of the donor's choice.
