Helen Ruth (Smith) Goss
Jan. 20, 1919 - Sept. 19, 2011 SOUTH BEND - Helen R. Goss, 92, residing in South Bend, IN, passed away at 11:30 PM Monday, September 19, 2011, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. She retired in 2000 after ten years of service with Corporate Staffing. Helen previously served as assistant to the President of Inland Distribution for over 30 years.
She was born on January 20, 1919, in South Bend, IN, to the late James and Isabella (Powers) Smith.
On October 3, 1942, in South Bend, IN, Helen married Charles H. Goss, who preceded her in death on April 19, 2005. They enjoyed their lake cottage for many years on Lewis Lake in Vandalia, MI.
Mrs. Goss is survived by her daughter, Carole Jones of South Bend; two sons, Randy (Lin) Goss of South Bend and Bill (Jean) Goss of South Bend; six grandchildren, Marne (Brian) Stigner, Stephanie Jones, Cary (Anne) Goss, Tyler Goss, Allison (John) Hupp and Tom (Skylar) Goss; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Alice Taylor of Alpine, CA; and one brother, Kenneth Smith of Chicago, IL.
One brother, Robert Smith, preceded her in death.
Private graveside services at Highland Cemetery, South Bend, will be held at a later date. Palmer Funeral HomeRiver Park, South Bend, and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
