SIMPSON - Robert Lyndon Simpson, 81, died on April 5, 1999. Son of a Scottish immigrant and a native of South Bend, Indiana, he graduated from the University of Notre Dame. A United States Air Force lieutenant during World War II, he served as a "Flying Tiger" under the command of General Claire Chenault in China. He had lived in Jacksonville and Orange Park for almost 50 years. He was a senior executive for General Electric Credit Corporation.

He is survived by three sons from his marriage to Jessie Partridge McCall: Robert Lyndon Simpson, Jr. & his wife Sophie, and their children, Robert Lyndon Simpson, III and Alexandra I Fay Noelani Simpson of Paris, France; John Alexander Simpson and his wife Lynda, and their children, Heather Diann Simpson and Jason Alexander Simpson of Jacksonville Beach and Jacksonville; and Christopher Scott Simpson of Jacksonville; and step-children from his marriage to Virginia Demmon Braden: Paulette and Bill Humphrey of Chattanooga, Tenn; Candy and Gale Lumpkin of Alexandria, VA; Bambi Philips of Jacksonville; Steve and Carol Braden of Orange Park; Lori Jill and Allen Frier of North Carolina; and 14 step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2PM, April 8, 1999, at the Orange Park United Methodist Church, 152 Stowe Avenue, Orange Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Florida, Northeast Region, 5526 Arlington Road, Jacksonville. HARDAGE-GIDDENS RIVERMEAD on Park Avenue in Orange Park is handling arrangements.
