George E. Shuman

Word has been received here of the death of former resident George E. Shuman, 63, of Sylvania, Ohio. Shuman died at 12:35 p.m. Saturday in Toledo Hospital, Toledo, following a long illness.
He was a retired chief chemist for the AM Jeep Corp. of Toledo, and a former chemist for the Studebaker Corp. In 1960, he served as president of the American Electroplaters, St. Joseph Valley Branch.
Born on Sept. 2, 1918, in South Bend, he had lived here until moving to Ohio 17 years ago.
His wife, Margaret, survives. Also surviving are two sons, Robert C. of Sylvania and Bruce G. of Toronto, Canada; a grandchild; and a brother, John H. of South Bend.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Reeb Funeral Home,, 5712 -N. Main, Sylvania, followed by services at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania. Rev. George Schmidt and Rev. Michael Tremmell, pastors, will co-officiate. Burial will be in Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the funeral home
