Florence Emily (Shelley) Crumet

SOUTH BEND - Florence E. Crumet, 72, of 53672 Pinehurst St., died at 12:15 a.m. Monday in Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Crumet retired in 1974 from the former Robertson's Department Store.

She was born Oct. 17, 1917, in Kalamazoo and had lived in South Bend most of her life.

On Feb. 7, 1937, in South Bend, as Florence Shelley, she married Jacob E. Crumet, who died Feb. 7, 1984.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Anne Bennett of Baker, La., and Karen E. Carl of Granger; a son, Thomas E. of Niles; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a stepsister, Nadine Bauer of South Bend; a stepbrother, Ernest Shelley of Schoolcraft, Mich.; and her stepmother, Mabel Shelley of Schoolcraft.

A son, James E., died in 1956.

She was a member of Community Congregational Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Burial will follow. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc. or the St. Joseph County Cancer Society.
