Marcel V. "Gramps" Rydzinski, 84, of 13200 Day Road, Mishawaka, Ind., went to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 7, 2001. He was born on Oct. 7, 1916, in South Bend, Ind., to the late John and Martha (Noveroski) Rydzinski. He was preceded in death by a sister, Genevive: Lamirand; and by a brother, Raynold Rydzinski.

On April 23, 1938, he married Zita Brehlick, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Christine Hollister; a son, Reverend Marcel "Mark" D. Rydzinski; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Domecilla Vosburgh; and by many nieces, nephews and friends.

For 26 years he was employed as a supervisor by Studebaker's, and for ten years as an office manager with the Schultz Oil Company. He retired from the PHM School System after nine years as custodian. In his words, "The best job ever had!" Marcel was a Christian and willingly served the Lord as a board. member, deacon, and Sunday school teacher at his local church.

He joyfully spent 11 years as a Gospel chalk artist. He also taught portrait art at the Battell Center in Mishawaka for nine years. At his request, his body has been donated to the Indiana University Medical Center. There will be no viewing. The family invites you to Grace Chapel to attend a memorial celebration at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 14.
