RUBIN, Jack 81, of Avondale, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, May 16 in the Palm Valley Rehab and Care Center in Goodyear, Arizona. Mr. Rubin was born on October 4, 1918 in South Bend to Phillip and Lena (Gursen) Rubin. He graduated from Purdue University in 1941 and received his Masters from Wright State University.
Mr. Rubin had worked for the former Bendix Corporation, Wheelbrator Corporation and the Chrysler Corporation Missle Division in Detroit. They moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1962 where Mr. Rubin worked for the Hercules Corporation Missle Division and Hill Air Force Base. In 1966 they moved to Dayton, Ohio where he retired from his position as Mechanical Engineer for the Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
They had made Avondale, Arizona their home for the past S months, Mr. Rubin was a Jewish War Veteran. He was a member of Beth Abraham Synagogue in Dayton and a former member of Sinai Synagogue and Hebrew Orthodox Congregation in South Bend. He was past commander of the Jewish War Veterans and the Elks lodge. Mr.
Rubin was a life member of the South Bend Musicians Union #278 and past president of Leisure Times Seniors of Dayton.
In 1947, in South Bend, he married the former Beverly Baim, who survives. Also survivng are two daughters, Rochelle Orr of Litchfield Park, Arizona and Debra Isaacs of Avondale, Arizona; two sons, Mark Allen Rubin of Garland, Texas and Cary Shawn Rubin of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Anna Mannheim of South Bend and Sylvia Glaser of South Bend; one brother, Norman J. Rubin of Port Richie, Florida; 11 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Sidney Rubin in 1989.
Services will be held on Sunday, May 21 at 3:00 pm in the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery in Mishawaka. There will be no visitation. The Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may he made to the donor's choice
