George Ivan Reid

County Resident Takes Own Life At Indian Lake
George Ivan Reid, 39, took his life Sunday evening in his Indian lake home. Sheriff Kenneth McLeod said Mr. Reid died instantly from the blast of a single barrel shotgun. The victim's 12-year-old daughter, Sharon, was alone in the house with her father when he killed himself. She ran to a nearby resort to summon aid and the sheriff was called.
He was born May 6, 1918, in Dowagiac, the son of William J. and Bernice Weaver Reid. His marriage to Jeanne Glynn, took place Jan. 3, 1944 in South Bend, Ind.
He served in the Navy during World War II and was discharged as a chief petty officer. He was a member of the Dowagiac Elks and the American Legion of Fort Wayne, Ind.
Besides his widow and daughter, he Is survived by his son, George P., Jasonville, Ill.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reid, St. Cloud, Fla.; four brothers, William C., Dowagiac, John and Robert, both of Niles and Frank in the navy; and three sisters, Mrs. Ray Sanders, Bangor, Mrs. Dorothy Gillette, South Bend and Mrs. Delores Wager, Niles
