Edwin Eugene “Gene” Prather, 88, of PuntaGorda, Fla., passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at the Courtyard Assisted Living Facility. Gene was born July 24, 1917, in Star City, Ind. to Mr. and Mrs. Fay Prather.
He worked as an engineer for Bendix Corporation in South Bend, Ind., with many patents to his credit, before his retirement in 1976 to Punta Gorda. He was a member of the United States Power Squadron, a volunteer for many years at Life Care Center in Punta Gorda, a member of the Punta Gorda Elks Lodge, and the St. Andrews Golf Course.
Gene was loved by all who met him and will be missed just as much. He will be laid to rest beside his wife, Fran, at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda.
