Mildred (Paxton) Rice

RICE - Services for Mrs. Mildred Paxton Rice, 57, of 1306 E. Bissell, who died at 8:50 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the First A.M.E. Church. Rev. Henry L. Marsh, pastor of the A.M.E. church, and Rev. Charles G. Rowlett, pastor of the Pilgrim Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Clark's Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Rice was a St. Joseph's Hospital employe. Born on Sept. 18, 1917, in Stuttgart, Ark., she had lived here 52 years, coming from Stuttgart.
On May 30, 1937, in South Bend, she married Ernest Rice, a retired police officer who survives. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Copeland Chicago and Dorothea Payton of South Bend, and a brother, Earl Paxton of South Bend.
Mrs. Rice was a member of the Ferst A.M.E. Zion Church
