Funeral for John A. Nielsen, 75, of Villa Drive, will 'be conducted by the Rev. Stephen Banet at 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Calling will be from 1 noon to 2 p.m. Monday at Myers Funeral Service, Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street. Private burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or Bartholomew County Area Hospice.
Mr. Nielsen died at 7 p.m. Friday, March 26, 1993, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He worked 28 years for Studebaker Corp. in South Bend and retired from General Electric in Bloomington, where he was an engineer.
Mr. Nielsen was a World War II Army Tank Corps veteran and a member of Catholic Community of Columbus and Danish Brotherhood of America. Born Oct. 7, 1917, in South Bend, he was the son of John A. and Dora Nielsen Nielsen.
He married Virgina "Ginny" Lamirand in October 1942 in South Bend. She survives. Also surviving are sons, John A. Nielsen Jr. of San Diego and Eric C. Nielsen of Columbus; a daughter, Krisann. Renner of Columbus; and five grandchildren.
