Richard O. Myers Sr.

Richard O. Myers Sr., 87, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 4:29 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2006, in the Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, IN. He had retired in 1981 as an engineering technician from Bendix Corporation after 37 years of service.

Mr. Myers was born on August 22, 1918, in Sturgis, MI to Clyde E. and Luella Faye (Grise) Myers, and was a lifelong resident.

On October 13, 1945, in LaPorte, IN, he married Maxine (Filley) Myers, who preceded him in death on July 28, 2004.

Mr. Myers is survived by two daughters, Susan Myers of South Bend and Carolyn Woodring of Fort Wayne; three sons and their wives, James and Judy Myers of South Bend, Richard O. and Linda Myers Jr. of Wilmington, DE, and Bruce and Janice Myers of Mechanicsburg, PA; 12 grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Jane Goff of California.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Lou Kaniewski, Kathleen Callsen and Claire Myers and one brother, John Myers.

Private memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. today September 23, 2006, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mlshawaka Ave., South Bend IN. Rev. Greg Crump will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, IN. Contributions in memory of Richard O. Myers Sr. may be made to Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
