Joseph John Miller Jr.

Joseph J. Miller Jr., 84, of Bridgeview Trail, South Bend, Ind., died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, in the Saint Joseph Care Center. Joseph retired from Price Waterhouse Coopers as an attorney and accountant after 60 years in the South Bend area.

He was born May 5, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Joseph J. and Margaret (Olson) Miller, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Garland; and by brothers, Ralph and Jack Miller.

On Jan.30, 1943, in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, South Bend, he married Alice M. Heatherson, who survives. He is also survived by three sons, James M. (Karen) Miller of St. Joseph, Mich., Michael J. (Susan) Miller of Sioux Falls, S.D., and John P. (JoAnn) Miller of Lake Forest, Ill.; and by seven grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Little Flower Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road.

Joseph was a member of Little Flower parish, Indiana CPA Society, Illinois CPA Society, Indiana State Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, St. Joseph County Bar Association, the Morris Park Country Club, Elks Lodge 235, and Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council 553.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II, and belonged to the Notre Dame class of 1940 and 1942.
