WAKARUSA - Mary L. Bryan, 91, of North Washington Street, Wakarusa, formerly of Mishawaka, passed away in Elkhart General Hospital following an illness.

Mary was born in South Bend to Harry and Edna (Meyer) McCarty, who both preceded her in death. On June 8th, 1947, in South Bend, she married Lewis C. Bryan. He died June 2nd, 1991.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara (Martin) Maloney of Elkhart and Mary (Ken) Reid of Spring, Texas. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Sarah Hudson of Elkhart, Emily Mitchell of Hermosa Beach, California, Bryan Reid and Peter Reid, both of Spring, Texas. Two nieces, Claudia Riggs of Elkhart and Nanette (Mario) Teixeria of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, also survive.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Louis McCarty.

Mrs. Bryan was a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels. She was also active in several bowling leagues in the area. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mishawaka. She was a secretary for the Indiana Michigan Electric Company and also a clerk at the Hilltop Market.

A memorial service will take place in The first Presbyterian Church of Mishawaka at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21st, with burial taking place at South Bend City Cemetery. Before becoming ill, Mary enjoyed traveling, bowling, and playing golf. She had many friends in the Mishawaka area with who she loved to do things and just talk to as often as she could. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
