Mary Louise (Martin) Grobe

Grobe, Mary Louise "Yaya", 89, of Tempe, Arizona passed away on November 25, 2008, after complications of hip surgery compounded by age & Alzheimer's.
She was born December 13, 1918, in South Bend, Indiana to John A, and Daisy Morehouse Martin.
Mary received her BA in French/Latin from Indiana University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. She married and they had 3 children John, Mary Lou and Katherine (pre deceased in 1996). After her divorce she returned to IU and was award a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue her studies in France, then came back and completed her MA. This is when she met and marries Edwin Grobe in 1952.
The family moved to Arizona in 1957. Mary taught French, Latin, Spanish and English at North and Carl Hayden High for the next couple of decades. Upon Retirement she became an active and invaluable volunteer at Pueblo Grande Museum for many years. She was a lovely, bright and accepting woman.
In addition to her husband of 56 years, and her son and daughter she is survived by 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren: and by her good friends the The Martinez Family.

As per Mary's wishes there will be no services. Family and close friends will scatter her ashes in the Memorial Garden at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Phoenix.
