James D. Madison, age 96 of Connersville, passed away on Wednesday September 3, 2014 at Lincoln Centers. Born on August 23, 1918 in South Bend, Indiana, he is the son of the late Edgar James and Olive Sluss Madison.

James lived in South Bend until moving to Cincinnati in 1954. He later moved to Connersville in 1963. He had graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1936. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from April 1943 to January 1945. He was a member of the American Legion and an active member of the Peace Lutheran Church where he had served as Church Treasurer.

James retired from Ford Electronics and its predecessors as a Material Control Analyst after 34 years of service. When he was younger he enjoyed photography and later in life he enjoyed working with computers and spending time with this family.

He is survived by two daughters, Carol Thompson and husband Fred of Connersville and Janice McGinnis and companion Jerry Irving of Tempe, AZ; four grandchildren, Courtney McGinnis, Kristin Davis and husband Tim, Tom Junkins and Andy Junkins and wife Amy; four great grandchildren, Hannah Adams and husband Clint, Jake Davis, Keith Junkins and Colin Latham.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Peterson Madison whom he married on February 24, 1944 in South Bend, she passed away in 2002. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Jean Elaine Rogers and his son in law Keith Junkins.

Funeral services will be conducted at Peace Lutheran Church on Monday September 8, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Norman Dew officiating. Friends and family may visit from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial with graveside military honors will follow at Springersville Cemetery.
