Harriet S. (Levy) Linder

Feb 1, 1918 - Sep 21, 1970

Harriet S. Linder, 52, wife of Morton L. Linder, former president of the South Bend Community School Corp. Board and a public relations consultant, died at 4 a.m. today in Healthwin Hospital.

She had been ill for 16 years after an attack of poliomyelitis in December, 1954. Born Feb. 1, 1918, in South Bend, she had lived here all her life. She was a 1940 graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and during World War II was employed as a secretary in the South Bend Region Air Force Procurement Center.

Following the war she was a legal secretary for several years. 

On July 4, 1941, as Harriet Levy, she was married to Morton Linder, who survives. Linder, who lives at 1723 Bader Ave., is the owner of Mort Linder and Associates, public relations consultants; a member of the School Board, and former news director land announcer with WSBT.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Linder is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Levy of South Bend; a son, James G., and a daughter, Janet L., both at home; and a brother, Melvin G. Levy of South Bend.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Forest G. Hay and Son Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Temple Beth-El by Rabbi Elliot Rosenstock and Rabbi Emeritus Albert M. Shulman, both of the Temple. Burial will be in Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, Mishawaka.
