Richard Francis Jones

Oct. 23, 1918 – Feb. 4, 1944

Second Lieut. Richard F. Jones, aged 25, son of Rev. Rhys Price Jones, D.D., pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, was killed in action in the Marshall Island invasion on Feb. 4, according to word received Monday night by Dr. Jones from the War Department. Details were not given.

Lieut. Jones entered the Army in February, 1941, and took officer’s training at Fort Benning, Ga., where he received his commission.

He was born in Franklin, Ind., and was graduated here from Central High School. In 1940, he was graduated from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind.

Surviving besides Dr. Jones, are a sister, Lois, at home, and a brother, Mortland, with the United States Press Bureau in Detroit, Mich.
